Hello Everyone to Day 4!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Sep 05, 2021 at 11:14:41 PM

Good morning everyone. We hope Thursday has started well for you if, like us, you are in the UK or it has been a good day if you are ahead of us. We didn't get a chance to do an update on how things were going yesterday. Instead, we shared Mark's thoughts on how the welsh figures can be used in different warbands,  which was a driver behind his planning of the packs. If you haven't read yesterday's update, it is a good read and has pictures of his painted minis, which is always a bonus.

Mark Farr's Welsh Warband

Yesterday we unlocked the Coracle stretch goal which you are now able to add to your pledge for £4.  This leaves the Bard next in our sights as the last of the range Mark really wanted to release. This means, due to popular demand, he plans to add further stretch goals and will be asking Mr Bickley to make more Spearmen (amongst other things).

After the spearmen, there are a further three packs on Mark's list, but this very much depends on how the project goes.  We really would like to break through to £30k today if possible, so please share the Welsh far and wide even if you already have. We really need your help to spread the word and your help as always will be appreciated.

Finally, we have been asked if we will do an 'All in deal' as the Kickstarter is closing?  We asked and Mark said yes, indeed!

Making the most of your Welsh 2 - Cavalry
over 2 years ago – Sun, Sep 05, 2021 at 11:14:04 PM

Hello!  Mark here again and this time I have raided the mould room to see what cavalry bits and pieces I could find - I have some resin test pieces and 'tins' so don't tell our mould maker. Using this 'loot' I have been able to put together a couple of sets and carried out some very simple conversions to give you an idea of the versatility of the cavalry figures.

Unfortunately, none of the later cavalry figures could be found. I suspect this is because they haven't been moulded yet or they have more successfully hidden. I will keep 'raiding' to see what I can get my hands on.

So let's have a look at what I have done. First up we have a Welsh commander with his mounted Hearthguard all kitted out for the Dark Ages.

In the next picture, we have the same Welsh commander. As he is mounted I have chosen to give him a kite shield. A wealthy chap he has the latest shield, an excellent helmet, he has chosen to wear lamellar armour for lightness and flexibility and he carries a fine sword (probably a family heirloom).

These guys, if taken as part of a force during a later period, could be used as sergeants for skirmishing, scouting and running messages.

Next up I have carried out two easy conversions - the one warrior has had his sword removed and replaced with a spear -in this case, I have it pointing down as if he is thrusting but I could just as easily put the point the other way up as a variation or use him as a standard bearer. He has a heater shield and I imagine him as a light medieval rover causing trouble in the Marches. The second warrior I have converted into a javelin man by removing his axe and turning his hand round. I could just as easily of left the hand around the other way and have him throwing to his right. He carries spare javelins and a shield just in case anybody tries to throw something back at him.  In my head, this chap is a 'hit and run' expert.

And just because I could, I've grouped them all together into one group for the last picture allowing me to shout...CHARGE!!  Time to get some paint on them.

I hope this has provided you with some inspiration and shown how versatile these Welsh cavalry figures are

End of Day 2, what happened today?
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 02, 2021 at 04:18:13 PM

As we are drawing to a close on day two here in the UK, we thought it would be good to share a round-up of what happened today. It looks like we will finish the day on just over £28k with 395 backers, which is just amazing. Thank you.

Last night, when we went to bed, we were still a little way off unlocking the Cavalry with Hand Weapons 2 pack. Today both this and the Christain Priest have been unlocked and are now available to add to your pledges - we just have to say in our opinion everyone needs the mounted chap with the axe!

We are finishing today not far away from unlocking the Coracle, which will only leave us with the Bard to close out all the sculpts we had initially planned. If the fantastic support for this project continues due to popular demand, we think the first request for further sculpts from Mr Bickley will be more cavalry.

Let us know what you think about that below in the comments, along with anything you would like to see adding to this project.

A huge thank you, everyone. It is going to be interesting to see where we finish.

Good Morning Everyone on Day Two!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 02, 2021 at 10:03:10 AM

After a fabulous opening day, overnight in the UK, we unlocked more early medieval cavalry with hand weapons which has now been added to the cavalry packs.

As before with the previous pack, the weapons can be easily snipped off and drilled for those wanting to arm their riders with javelin or spears instead.  Just increase your pledge by £9 to be able to add them later.

With the cavalry being unlocked the next stretch goal unveiled is this guy, we believe every welsh range should have one.
